Well, we’re moving. And at a rate of knots too! The next 12 months is going to be good. Your new committee is looking very promising with lots of new ideas and ways of implementing these new ideas that will hopefully make all our lives a lot easier. Including yours, the Member!
One of our goals is to continue the generous ways of the Mustang Owners Club of Australia (NSW). As I mentioned in my last month’s President’s report, we donated an amount of money in excess of $21500.00 to various Charities. This upcoming term, is looking more prosperous already. Our aim is to hopefully increase on that amount this term.
All these changes etc., are only occurring through a lot of hard work, dedication, and commitment by the committee, and I think that they deserve a huge Thank You! Many of them sacrifice so much of their work day, evenings, and weekends to put events together, write minutes for meetings, take care of the financials, organise Concours Days, manage the CRS-H Scheme, manage the merchandise etc., compile the Magazine, and the list goes on, for who? For you the members, that’s who!
Some members are very quick to sit back, do nothing, yet they criticise the committee for a ruling, that those individuals feel may not suit their specific needs. The Committee has to look at the BIG picture for all members. Not just one or two specific members. So, thank you to my fellow committee members for all your hard work, and commitment. And maybe, just maybe one day, the membership can host an event so that the committee can have a day of relaxation and enjoyment! Which leads me to the next paragraph.
The Penske day. What a huge success it was! Greg Dobe and his boys, did an outstanding job of guiding all those who attended through this First Class remanufacturing facility. It was an open day of sorts, with in excess of 70 of our members turning up for the experience. It was also a fantastic opportunity for the Penske employees to invite their family members along to see them first hand in their work environment. There were Grandmothers to toddlers there to experience and see, the huge ship engine just rebuilt running first hand. Greg and his team supplied the drinks, The Mustang Club supplied the sausages and the roles, and Maureen Lines supplied the cakes for dessert. Thank you Maureen! I would also like to thank my little mate Henry. Henry and his son Joshua, came along early to assist me in twirling the sausages on the BBQ.
Thanks guys. Also, thanks to our former events co-ordinator Matt Jones, who turned up early to lend a hand! And thanks to all the members who came along to make this day the success that it was. It was certainly a unique experience that will not be easily forgotten.
And to see the smiles on everyone’s faces makes all the effort worth it! They deserve a huge Thank You from all of us for donating their time and resources. Thanks Team Penske!
Now a couple of years ago, we lost one of our very popular members, and close friend in Garry Treloar. Many of you had the opportunity to get to know Garry, and then many of you didn’t have the opportunity. He was a man that I could truly call a friend. A few of us often referred to Garry, as our very own version of Mr Cool (Steve McQueen). Well, for those of you that didn’t know Garry, Garry was a former Speedway Champion, in the sidecar outfits category. Garry’s son Darrin follows in his father’s footsteps with the Speedway riding, and is the current reigning Australian and World Speedway Sidecar Champion, so many times over that I have lost count! Darrin is putting together a Garry Treloar Memorial Race Meeting at Kurri Kurri near Newcastle for Saturday 4th February 2017 (next year) in honour of his father, and has asked for 16 Mustang Convertibles for a parade of riders at the meeting.
Sorry to you all for the Pony Express being delivered late. There were a number of reasons for this happening. One was our editor David Lodge was very ill, and another was that Australia Post took their time in posting the magazine. Hopefully everyone received their edition and are very happy with the Quality. You will notice, due to some feedback from members, we are now adding some colour pages in the centre with photos of some of the popular events throughout the month. We hope that you are happy with the colour additions?
Again, I must reiterate the importance of your compliance with Our Club Rules for the CRS-H Historic Registration scheme if you are participating in it. Those rules are in place to protect both the Members and the Club. If you cannot follow the simple rules that YOU have signed and accepted, then please do not complain when you are denied access upon renewal time if you have failed to comply. Your complaints will fall on deaf ears! Which brings me to the Modified Vehicle 60 day Registration Scheme that some of you have been asking about and waiting patiently to be implemented. As I write my report, it has been signed off by NSW Roads minister Duncan Gay and will start to hopefully be implemented shortly. It will not be administered by the Mustang Owners Club. It will be administered by a separate entity. If you have a modified vehicle and wish to participate in this scheme, all that you will require from the Club, is proof of your Membership. That’s it! We will not be the entity you will need to contact for acceptance onto this scheme. It is a 2 year trial like the 60 day CRS-H scheme, and that is just about to enter its 2nd year of its 2 year trial period. In saying this, if you have a modified vehicle that does not qualify for the current CRS-H Scheme, and desire the cheaper registration with limited use option, then it will be up and running for you very shortly. Please do not contact the Club or David Hogg for this new scheme. You will have to contact the NSW RMS for all information.
It may seem a little too often of late that I am becoming the bearer of bad news. Whether it be having to address a CRS-H issue, a member’s passing, or a fellow member who is battling serious a serious illness. Well, some bad & sombre news is upon us again from within our membership. In particular, those of you who occasionally frequent our ever popular Forum may already be aware of this. Another of our Club members has passed recently, in Derek Yates. Derek was also known as Dyates on our forum, and recently succumbed to the dreaded C illness. Derek was a character, and would occasionally call on me to purchase parts and obtain some Tech info on his car. Our chats were always entertaining and enlightening. I am sure that Derek will be sorely missed by his family and friends, and I would like to take this opportunity to extend Our Sincere Condolences to Derek’s family and friends on behalf of the Committee and Members of the Club. Our Sincere thoughts are with you all through this most difficult time. Also, another of our members in Terry Luke, is battling serious illness. I hear that Terry is slowly on the mend, and I would like to wish Terry, Good Luck and Best Wishes, for a speedy recovery so that he can be out driving and enjoying his little 64 ½ Mustang Coupe again real soon!
A notice to all Pony Express Magazine Sponsors/Advertisers. If you are interested in promoting your business for the next 12 months from January 2017 to December in our Club Magazine would you please make contact with myself, or our Vice President David Livian to discuss your next term of sponsorship/promotion? Already, several businesses have indicated their intentions for the next 12 months in wishing to continue their sponsorship support through our magazine.
Last but not least, Welcome to all the new members who have recently joined MOCA NSW within the last month. Welcome aboard! Also, “Welcome Back” to some previous members who have re-joined after a brief absence.
That’s it for me for this month folks, Drive safe and keep well!
‘Til next month my friends!
