April 2014 Presidents Report
Well, it’s here; the 50th Anniversary month of the Mustang.
Some of our members are celebrating by going to the motherland to join the creators of the Mustang in either Charlotte or Las Vegas. Others are travelling a little closer to home being Geelong to commemorate with the Australians at the Mustang Nationals. Whatever you do just remember your pride and joy on April 17 and safe travels to those venturing away from home to celebrate.
Even though many of our members will be elsewhere, for those who can make it we are having a celebratory dinner as part of our April general meeting on the 16th. We have been promised a guest speaker from Ford Australia and I will organise Leo Geoghegan to be in attendance, as long as his health allows him. We will show the fantastic video, “The Racing Geoghegans” on the big screen in the auditorium and of course have a birthday cake. More details in this magazine and please join us for this birthday party in the auditorium of the Merrylands RSL.
Other celebrations include the Pony Round Up at The Vineyard Hotel and of course the Merrylands Muster in September, but any time Mustang members get together is reason to celebrate.
On the evening prior to the Pony Round Up at the Vineyard Hotel we will invite all the regional delegates for a dinner at the hotel so they can meet the committee and other delegates and discuss the activities in their respective areas and hopefully pick up ideas from each other.
There was a huge surge of new members last month and I’m not sure if this is coincidental or the 50th celebrations and the pending launch of the factory RHD Mustang has increased interest in the pony car, but well take it, and welcome all the new members.
We hope to see you at at least one of the many events coming up over the next few months.
Enjoy those Mustangs,
