Presidents Report - December 2015

alan vella2Hello All,

Well, with The All Ford Day just being held on Sunday November 29 due to the original July date being cancelled due to rain, I can confidently say, that many of us look forward to it returning to its original date in July 2016. After a rainy and overcast start to the day, didn’t the weather turn around? Boy was it hot and humid!

We had around 70 cars turn up and brave the questionable start to the day, and we made the most of it. Commiserations must go to David Lodge our editor who was our concours’ entrant this year in his beautiful 1969 Mach 1, and was just pipped at the post for Top Car in the class. The quality of the concours’ cars just keeps getting better as every year passes. I would also like to say a huge Thank You to all of those that chipped in and helped on both the Friday afternoon mark out session, and on the actual Show Day on Sunday.

So many members chipped in and guided and parked cars to their respective spots. There was also much laughter and comradery, which was great to see. There are too many names to write down and you will all know who you are. On behalf of the committee and members, thank you for all your help. And thank you to all those who attended in their cars, It is greatly appreciated!

With the Queensland Nationals on the Gold Coast during Easter 2016 drawing nearer by the day, it may be an idea for those who are considering attending the event to make a decision if you are attending as the booking period draws to a close. 11th January to be exact!

There are many fellow NSW members attending the QLD Nationals, and I will be leading a group on the drive up towards the event. If you are interested in joining in, could you please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. As part of this trip away, I have been attempting to organise a couple of private tours, the first one is with Dick Johnson Racing on the Gold Coast, and the second is with the Bowden collection of Iconic Australian Race Cars on the Sunshine coast 2 hrs north of the Gold Coast at Buderim. With Dan Bowden previously unable to host a tour of his family’s collection, Dan has recently made contact with me again stating that he can now host us for a tour! The tour will be held on the Tuesday 29th March, after Easter Monday. If it is to go ahead I will require members to make contact with me to express their interest. I know this is short notice, but it has been beyond my control. So please email me on the above email address if you would like to come along.

The entire trip will more than likely take from Tuesday 22nd March which will be our departure date from Sydney and we shall return home to Sydney on Thursday the 31st March. Around 10 days. Please bear in mind, that if I cannot get a reasonable amount of members expressing their interest to participate in the tours of these to enterprises, they will not be able to go ahead. Please remember to email me to express your interest before January 30th.

Last month, on November 15th, I held another Big Al’s Mystery Breakfast Run. I had planned a pretty easy venue this time as I had only returned from the USA 2 days prior, and decided to return to where it all started at Cordeaux Dam. This was where it all started! Funnily enough, the weather was overcast like the inaugural run, with ever a so slight sprinkle upon departure from my home in the morning. Upon arrival at the destination, the weather was displaying a beautiful morning with hardly a cloud in the sky! It didn’t take long for that to change. We had around 25 Mustangs and around 8-10 daily drivers turn up. There was the usual exceptional little experience that gave us all something to laugh about on the day. As always, a good day and well supported event, and thank you to those who came along early to lend a hand with the setting up, cooking and tidy up duties at the end of it all. The next Big Al’s mystery breakfast run will be held on Sunday March 13th, and we will be heading in a northerly direction this time. So fill the Mustang up and come along for what is always a great run!

We have had many members falling ill of late, either suddenly or gradually. Some with extremely serious illnesses, and some with minor ailments that require hospitalisation. I would just like to let you know that we are all thinking of you throughout the duration of your illness, and wish you all a very speedy recovery.

Well, it’s finally here! As I write my last report for the 2015 calendar year, the latest model of the Ford Mustang has hit our shores, with the first shipment arriving in Melbourne on December 1st. We can be very proud, that our NSW club has had a huge part to play with the worldwide unveiling of the new car and 50th Birthday Celebrations. Ford have been stating that there are 4000 cars on order with a 12-18 month delivery time. What a wait! But I can say with confidence to all that have waited this long, that I know you will be extremely happy with your new pride and joy.

And I wonder who the lucky ones to take delivery first will be? I have been told that another 2 ships are due here during the month of December, and I am eagerly awaiting (as I am sure many others are) seeing all those new Ford Mustangs on our roads as daily drivers.
I would also like to welcome all the new members who have joined over the past month. Welcome, and please come up and say hello!

Well everyone, it’s that time of the year again, and on behalf of Maree, myself and the Committee, we would like to wish you all and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope that all your Christmas wishes come true, and that you may have a prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in 2016. Please remember to drive safe and be careful on the roads over the Christmas and New Year period and to think of others. ‘Till next year everyone!

Merry Christmas.
