Presidents Report November 2008

Well the hot weather is upon us and it’s time for the club runs to shift into top gear; not that Wayne, Karen, John and Doreen have given us much time to rest.

The Events Co-Ordinator team did a great job of the Harrigan Ford show at Yallah and that event is destined to grow into one bigger, and less dusty, than the Yallah Woolshed show of the past.

Now we look forward to the Mustang Spring Muster on the new, dry date of 30th November.

We have organised something for everyone, whether you drive your Mustang every day, enjoy it on weekends or trailer it around, this is the event for you. It’s a real family day with a good old picnic feel about it. There will be trade and memorabilia stands, activities for the kids and hot food and coffee provided by the Merrylands Rotary Club. The Holroyd City Council and Merrylands RSL are right behind us and, there will even be many trophies there for those so inclined. Make sure you join us for a great day.

At the August meeting those lucky enough to attend enjoyed a great evening listening to the legendary Jim Richards talk of his exploits in the early days of motor racing, including the birth of the famous Sidchrome Boss 302 Mustang. Peter Dunlop was able to prepare a PowerPoint presentation using photos provided by Jim and I whilst Club member and professional media producer, Scott Richardson of Vision TV Pty Ltd, filmed Jim’s presentation utilising two cameras. Scott has then combined each to produce a DVD available for sale by the Club. We are selling the DVD for $20 plus postage with all profits going to Jim’s nominated charity, the Victorian Down Syndrome Association. If interested email Cas, our Secretary / Treasurer for payment methods or we will have them at the November meeting. (

Now onto serious business. The club is experiencing its largest membership in many years and
every month I have the pleasure of welcoming usually about half a dozen new members, yet the Stock Controllers job is still vacant. Also, due to personal reasons, Peter Dunlop has had to let the Magazine Editors job go. Peter has done a fantastic job over the years and has the new cover and many advertisers already organised for 2009 but we are looking for someone to take over the monthly compilation of this great tome. Everything is on a CD ready to go and Phil Preston has agreed to help in the interim but please members, Nov 08 7 for both committee positions, don’t just sit back and rely on “someone else” to do it.

We have nearly 700 members and we are all busy people but without some of us finding time to continue in making this club the enjoyable and respected club it is, we will all suffer.
If you can help contact any of the committee for guidance.

Let’s all welcome the following new members to the club and I look forward to meeting them at a future event.

Brian Daley 1966 coupe
Micheal Ryan TBA
Howard Astill 1966 coupe
Kathy Lancuba 1966 coupe

Enjoy those Mustangs,
David Livian
