Presidents Report November 2009

We as a club are very lucky to have the support of the Merrylands RSL (MRSL).

It is more than having a great venue to hold our meetings with all the facilities that a club of their size has to offer.
It is more than the free membership to their club or the financial support they offer in the way of sponsorship of trophy categories for various shows or the funds offered to us as a sub-Club.

It is the respect we have earned as a club and a contributor to the community.
For years we have participated in the Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day ceremonies for the Holroyd area.

Our Spring Muster and State Concours are strongly supported by the Holroyd Council and their officers and we use Holroyd Gardens at no cost while other car clubs aren't even allowed to enter it.

We are invited to the Club Umina, a MRSL subsidiary club, for a show and are offered support for that event too.

The CEO of MRSL, Bryn Miller, has offered us the auditorium for any future function we wish to organise and has attended many of our events, not only in an official capacity, but because he has a genuine interest in our members and their cars.

Last month this respect was manifested in an invitation extended by the President of the MRSL Board of Directors, Mr Ron Hand, to David Francis and myself to join the MRSL Board.

The invitation was a great honour to both of us and it shows the esteem that we and the MOCA NSW are held in, and their desire to strengthen the relationship even further.

With me recently joining the Committee of the Concord Baseball Club, coaching and playing, as well and my activities with other car clubs I reluctantly declined to run. David Francis though, even with all his commitments, decided to have a go and missed out by only one vote.

I am telling you all this because a club by definition is "a group of persons organized for a social, literary, athletic, political, or other purpose" but when you look around our club and the friendships, camaraderie and achievements this club has generated you realise it is far more than that.

Enjoy your club, and your Mustangs,

David Livian
