Welcome to 2024 and as usual our first big outing was the All American Day.
It was a resounding success with over 400 fantastic American built beauties on display.
Yes, it was hot, but it was better than rain and there were plenty of air-conditioned shops and eateries to enjoy and cool down.
There was a hold up getting in because we had to keep the exit lane free for Coles Click and Collect customers.
At least after much negotiation with the centre management we didn’t lose as much area as first advised.
At one stage we lost all the under-cover carpark which greatly threatened the event.
Now I know the Mustangs are in the open and they look stunning in the sun, but I don’t want to chop and change the layout because when the entrants know where to park from last year it goes smoother.
We will be discussing ways to expedite entry for next year in our debrief with the centre management shortly and will keep you up to date.
I want to thank all the Mustang Club members who helped to park cars, especially Patrick Schinella, Matt Thompson, Ron Sheridan, Brett Smith, Bruce Sinclair and Heather Livian
Thank you to all the patient drivers who waited to get in, the sponsors of the trophy categories (advertised in this magazine), trade stands, and centre management for the venue, PA and tables.
Also thank you to Maureen and Ginny from the AMCCA for registration duties
The other car clubs did a great job sharing information and posts to promote the event.
The judges also deserve great appreciation as it’s always a tough job to choose from all the gorgeous cars, but they do their best.
I get comments about “why didn’t my car win” but I assure you the judges are impartial and chosen due to their trade or classic car knowledge and choose what they like on the day.
It was a great day and preliminary figures look like another $12,000 going there from this event.
Thank you again for your support and we look forward to number 42 on Sunday January 19, 2025.
Now onto the 60th Anniversary Round-up at Vineyard and things will change there.
The front carpark is reduced due to renovations and the installation of a huge chiller taking 6-8 spots right out front of the bar.
There is construction out back and I don’t know what will be finished in time for the show.
I will have to keep you posted on that but, rest assured we will have something special for you.
I won’t be at the next meeting as I’m off to the ‘states to watch some baseball so I’ll leave you in the capable hands of the Energiser Bunny, aka President Patrick.
Enjoy those Mustangs
David Livian
